Hello
I'm Colleen, the artist behind the Art for Auction project. I have painted for most of my life as a hobby and now have too many paintings piling up in my home! I've run an art business in the past, but found the demands of maintaining a side business along with my full time job took some of the joy of creating away. In came the idea for how to give back to the local community while also giving my artwork to people to enjoy.
Art for Auction
The way Art for Auction works is that I place a new artwork in the display box outside of my home the first week of the month. The hope is that since we live on a corner lot with more foot traffic, people will take a moment to view the artwork and participate in bidding by donating to that month's selected charity. At the end of the month, the artwork will go to the highest bidder/donor. At no point do I receive any money, the only thing I ask for in order to participate is to send me proof of the donation with the amount visible. You can find more detailed instructions for participating on the Art for Auction page.

The charities selected each month are based on my own research for local charities, but I am open to suggestions! I just ask that they be for local causes to Lancaster County.

This project will likely evolve overtime depending on how things go. At the very least, if no one follows through on participating, you will get to view some new artwork each month while walking your dogs!

Thanks for taking the time reading! I really enjoy this neighborhood and hope to build some more connections this way.
